Recipe for Success: Feathers for Lunch
Participants will learn how to expand and enhance their young students’ curiosity about the natural world through use of the fund and brightly illustrated children’s book “Feathers for Lunch”.  Participants will return to their classroom with an intimae familiarity with this book as well as a range of creative learning activities designed to work toward a variety of kindergarten readiness skills. In addition participants will incorporate a cooking experience into their lesson planning.

Birth to 24 Months- Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards 2010
Participants will gain an understanding of the history, content, and outline of the 2010 Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards.  Using videos of children engaged in an activity, the participants will determine which standards are being met.  Participants will walk away with ideas of how to use the standards in their classroom and information to share with parents about the expectations that The Agency for Workforce Development has for children’s learning in our state.

Ages and Stages Questionnaire Version 3 (ASQ-3); Just for Beginners
As a requirement of the School Readiness Agreement children need to be screened every six months to one year.  This workshop will introduce the ASQ: how to administer and score it properly as well as how to use it to drive lessons, build curriculum, increase your knowledge of how children develop, and feel comfortable identifying and responding to potential delays.  Participants will work together to create quick and easy lessons for small or large groups, as well as talk through and walk through ways to intervene when a child is not developing skills.

Family Engagement: Best Practices
Together we will have a professional conversation around the best practices for engaging families in the school life.  A few questions we will discuss together are: How do we wish to welcome and engage families in the school life?  What are best practices of family engagement?  What system approaches within the school will support best practices?  What will likely happen from the presence, interest, and support of families?  This professional conversation promises to be an interesting learning experience.  It will challenge your thinking and provide direction for the changes you will wish to make.
